Ignorance Kills; Not Salvia

I recently came across a post titled, "Warning: Legal Drug Could Kill Your Child." This is one of the most irresponsible articles I’ve I ever read.  Debbi’s blog (DJ) states, “Salvia is considered to be a dangerous drug that can produce side effects, closely mimicking those of the 70’s popular hallucinogenic drug LSD.”  First of all, article references absolutely no data to support the implied dangers of the drug.  Second, the effects are NOTHING like the “the 70’s popular hallucinogenic drug LSD.”  Debbi has no idea what she’s talking about, or the validity of her source.  She clearly heard some news about some dumb kids experimenting with Salvia (a plant that has NEVER been responsible for a single death) and posting their stupidity on YouTube.  Furthermore, no one has been injured from using the plant since indigenous Mazatec shamans began using it hundreds, if not thousands, of years ago.  This article just spreads ignorance.  With that said, these backwater blog authors should review their facts, study them, and illustrate their topics with a more objective perspective.  She’s the kind of lazyboy legislator that gets her bridge club together for meaningless babble about topics they know nothing about.

I would change the title of her post to, "Warning: This Article Will Make You Ignorant."

Pardon me, but I’ve just recently noticed your comment concerning a post on my CNW blog and evidently, your salviated mind didn’t read the entire blog which states my source was WECT TV 6 in Wilmington, NC. My comments were italicized, the article was written by WECTV News Anchor, Kelli O’Hara. Perhaps you should pay closer attention to whom and what you enter on your site. As for your drug use, I don’t know you and I could care less if you fry your small brain, but I do care that imbeciles such as yourself, encourage other kids to do so. In my opinion you are not worth the energy it took me to type this, and I’m sure you’re just a psychotic punk kid, whose reality is so bad, it needs escaping. Do yourself a favor, get into therapy, try Prozak or Fukitol….whatever works for you.
Drugs don’t kill…idiots that take them do, and as a member of DAMMAD, I’m going to make sure this website get’s all of the recognition it deserves.

According to the DEA, Users report a wide range of effects, from other-world and out-of-body experiences to feeling they have been turned into inanimate objects, like paint on the wall. Other users have reported experiencing living another person’s life, from birth until death, and many report having spiritual experiences.

“Kids just don’t sit back and get the munchies with this one,” said an Arkansas Drug Enforcement Agency official in a Batesville Daily Guard report. “This is one of the most powerful hallucinogens known to man.”

Lower doses of salvia, which is usually smoked, can produce a range of psychic effects, including:

Perceptions of bright lights, vivid colors and shapes
Twisting body movements
Object distortions
Uncontrollable laughter
Dysphoria
A sense of loss of body
Overlapping realities
Hallucinations
A loss of coordination
Dizziness
Slurred speech

So that is supposed to be “fun”? Like, I can’t believe that “Feeling like you are paint on the wall” would be exciting. Living in another person’s body from birth until death…creepy!

I’ll bet if someone told you that digesting a certain breed of dog poop would induce hallucinogenic experiences, you would do it. You’re Da Kind, as we use to say in Hawaii.

I’m trying to figure out what should be done about this website. Your advocation of this drug, be it legal or not is a menace to young adults, in my opinion.

You have no concept of what Saliva does. You saw a report on WECTV, heard a sound bite about a new drug "sweeping the nation", poured yourself another glass of gin, lit your Virginia Slim, and started pecking away at your typewriter. Sorry, but listing WECTV is not the same as checking facts, but that didn’t stop you from expressing your opinion about something YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ABOUT. Without veering to far from the point, how many people die from cigarettes each year? What about alcohol? You want the Drug Enforcement Agency to waste its time on a substance that has NEVER caused a single death or illness in this country? Have you ever heard of gang members killing for Salvia, or kids begging on the street to support their Salvia habit? No, you haven’t. That’s because Salvia isn’t anything like what your ignorant perspective believes it is. I’ll tell you what, when you CC me on the letter(s) you type to the cigarette and alcohol companies, I’ll will take you seriously. Until then, please use your words wisely, tone down your alarmist approach, and please don’t condemn issues just because you don’t understand them

Lastly, your post neglected to discuss Salvia’s positive attributes, but that wouldn’t help your empty cause, would it? Debbi, your opinion is based on your own limited perspective about morality, ethics, and law. Unfortunately, the responsible adults that want the right to parent ourselves have to give up our rights because Debbie heard about some scary stuff on WECTV…so it must be true. By the way, why don’t you allow people to comment on your site?
